SCRAP Re:Vision Gallery Show in January
Dec. 26 2010
When I first moved to Portland in 2007 my wife informed me about this place called SCRAP. She told me it was a creative re-use store which was very similar to a place I had frequented on a regular basis in Oakland, CA called the East Bay Depot for Creative Re-use. While living in the East Bay I would make frequent trips to the Depot for a constant stream of re-used materials. I loved going there and searching through the recently donated acquisitions. I usually ended up with a ton of material to work with on various projects.
Having a place similar to the Depot in Portland seemed fantastic to me. I soon was at SCRAP (School Community Reuse Action Project) nearly every week searching through the voluminous donations of paper, foamcore boards, tape, frames, wood panels, old images, and just about everything else that goes into the artwork that I make now. SCRAP was and is a goldmine for me. So, I am truly thrilled to be having my first show there in January called "New Formations over Old Horizons". If you are in town and interested in attending, please swing by the SCRAP Re:Vision gallery on January 13th from 5-7PM. I will be there, possibly and more than likely digging through donations to see what inspires me next. Kids are welcome and refreshments will be served. I hope to see you there!
