Much thanks, and then some more thanks
May. 06 2010
Just wanted to say thanks so much to the kind folks who stopped by my table at the recent Crafty Wonderland. It was sort of a weird but enjoyable weekend; vastly different from the holiday sale in December. I enjoyed the opportunity to speak with many people regarding my art and the process involved. I think I really made more connections with fellow artists and patrons this time more than I had in December. The holiday sale was a whirlwind of insanity, so I felt I couldn't spend as much time speaking with people. This time was different and much more placid. Portland is a strange and beautiful little city filled with amazing talent and diverse personalities. Only here could Crafty Wonderland be a reality in our odd little lives. Some say this city is like living in a bubble, and I have to agree on some level, but I'd much rather be stuck here than say Lancaster, CA. (the town I grew up in) where the cultural epicenter is the local 40 megaplex theater stationed next to a super sized Wal Mart store. Yuck. Anyway, peace and love and freedom and beards and handmade goods and art and bicycles and tight jeans and brewpubs and artists - lots of artists.
Getting Crafty Once Again
Apr. 10 2010
I am excited to say that I will once again be part of Portland's illustrious Crafty Wonderland Super Colossal Sale. This time around it'll be two days of handmade craziness at the Portland Convention center. Look for my booth with the Wildlife Analysis and Nature Paths works beaming through the florescent lights. I hope to see you there!

Lost Days Recovered in a Sonic Realm
Apr. 03 2010
For several years I was involved with a band called The Rum Diary situated within the far reaches of Northern California amidst the skylarks and landlocked boats. We were a group of friends with shared musical chemistry. We created a sound that we were proud of and held our heads high along the weird and somewhat tumultous road that most independent rock bands travel. We lasted a while and it was a very fun and exciting time in my life. Now, in this new and ever so different life, the Parks and Records music label is releasing a Rum Diary Retrospective CD. On this disc are many songs collected from the three official albums, which we released from 2000-2007. Also collected here are a few b-side gems, one of which I am especially excited about (High Hawk). Please visit the kind folks at Parks and Records by clicking the link above and pre-order this retrospective at a very reasonable price. And remember: the gamers were loathed, the gamers were hated, they stayed in their rooms and learned diatonic measures.

Most Wonderful
Mar. 07 2010
A decent and kind human known as Mark Searcy publishes an arts magazine called Most Wonderful, and I was interviewed for the very first issue. This came as an unexpected and great surprise one random day a couple of months ago. I met Mark at an independent publishers show in downtown Portland and he showed me a proof copy of the Most Wonderful issue. It looked really great and I am now happy to say it is available via this website: http://magcloud.com/browse/Issue/52383
I will also have several copies of the issues for sale at the upcoming Crafty Wonderland Super Colossal sale in May -- more on this later. For now be now and let tomorrow be a day away.
