Escape Velocity (beyond the colour realms)

Thanks, once again, to the synthy prog-metal-filmscore band Zombi for inspiring the name of this new piece. "Escape Velocity" 11" x 13" found bird (hawk??) image re-envisioned with colored tape and mixed media. The escape was executed successfully with the help of tracery lines into oblivion. Leopardscape
Feb. 14 2012
My friend thought this piece was titled "Leopard's Cape" as in the leopard is wearing a cape of some sort. I originally meant for the title to be deciphered as "Leopardscape" as in Landscape. I like the idea that this leopard could be wearing a cape. It never occured to me, and now I see if differently than before. That is to say, more differently than before now. Mayng.
Tall Ships (sheeps, shjeeps)
Jan. 21 2012
Ocean bound and found (in some radiant light). This flotilla never reaches the shore; forever aimlessly sailing sans navigation to nowhere. 36" x 36" found ships acrylic artwork, re-mixed with colored tape and traces of bioluminescence.
Field Range (distance calculated, but never measured)
Dec. 28 2011
A surveyor once set forth in a vast field to take standard measurements. Once he set up his tripod and surveying equipment he peered inside the viewing scope to calibrate the distance. He did not see distance, he did not see the field as it once was. The area had now become refracted, complete with a lone Caribou standing squarely as the center focus. "What the hell??" exclaimed the man. The land had now become Field Range and his life was never the same after. Find it out there. You too can become part of the refracting.
Cosmic Herd
Dec. 20 2011
First there was Spirit Animal, now comes forth Cosmic Herd. These gentle beasts reign supreme. 20" x 32", found elephant acrylic painting re-mixed and re-envisioned by yrs truly.
Duskrays
Dec. 14 2011
Cold marks the breath which seeps from our mouths and quickly turns to frost as we breathe in these shadowy days. This new piece, Duskrays, reminds me of warmer moments in the desert of my youth. Ahhh, to be there right now under this tree looking out into the calm vista. Those hazy days are long gone, only existing in my dreams and archived memories. I sometimes miss my old life. "Duskrays" | 16" x 20" | found vintage landscape w/ mixed media. 2011 via sometime in 1991.
Crafty Wonderland Super Holidaze Sale
Nov. 25 2011
The good folks over at Crafty Wonderland HQ have invited yours truly once again to be a part of their amazing super holiday sale on December 10th & 11th at the Oregon convention center.
This this time 'round I will be teaming up with my very talented friend, Marcus Fischer. Marc makes these amazing 1D animals entirely out of antiquated Letraset numbers and symbols. In much the same way, I use antiquated graphic tape to emphasize the found animal imagery in the majority of my work. The two of us finally got together and devised a way for our complimentary pieces to be seen and purchased together in one setting. What a better place than the CW Super Colossal Holiday Sale!
We will have a rather large area set up, complete with a customized wall for displaying the works. If you are in Portland that weekend please swing by and say "hello". As always, just follow the lines and patterns. You won't miss it.
