Summer encroaching and materializing along these Western skies. The days are indeed longer and the shadows cast distorted shapes at the 8:00 pm mark. I was out in this for several days wondering and rolling (atop a wooden plank).  Behind old brush pine and within overgrown vacant lots there lies the forgotten places; little patches of quiet solitude where perhaps the wind wisps and carries the detritus of the day along to other lost spaces. Here in this I exist and made this piece below titled "Nature's Editing".

ETA LA Art Show

A while back some friendly folks contacted me from the ETA LA (Enormous Tiny Art  Los Angeles) and requested that I send them some pieces under 10" x 10". I happily did so and now they will be showcased along with several other talented artist's work from around the nation. ETA have been curating shows for several years on the East coast and this June will be their first West coast endeavor. I am excited to be a part of it and you can read all about it right here.

Thursday Last Thursday: Alberta Street Arts

Ventured into the realm of street art selling for the first time last Thursday at the monthly Alberta Arts Streetwalk. It was quite an experience to be out in the plebelands mingling with the myriad passing sentient bodies. So many people walked by in instant flashes it became difficult to tell if they were merely looking or looking through. I know from past experience that the "looking through" effect overtakes me when presented with so many visual distractions. Alberta St. last Thursday is like this. However, several kind folks stopped to say hello and show genuine interest in the selected works hanging there on the fence. Thank you to all my friends who stopped by to help and support. I would do this again, yes.

A new piece, just surfaced the other day. I was once under the coverage of this great arboreal. Like those drifting summer days in the Mojave desert, time spent under shade and out of sun. Languid hours dreaming and remembering. Memory serves and is precious to contain. 

Seasonal Shifts

Springtime has always held a sense of confusion and precarious balance for myself. The winter tries to hold on steadfast to the bitter end while warmth slowly attempts to creep in around all the fuzzy edges. It is not a bad time, but rather an odd transitional period between the two seasons. I feel for the most part that the months of April and May are essentially a limbo period, but ironically a limbo period that fosters growth and productivity. For this time I dedicate a new piece below titled Day of the Rams. For these sentient beings I only hope for the best balance and grip into the new folds of time. 

New country, new works, new times

The fine folks who run the Canteen gallery in Ottawa, Canada have graciously put up some of my recent Nature Paths and Wildlife Analysis works in their fantastic space. I have never been to Canada before, but have always wanted to visit the great Northern neighbor of ours. Seeing a place like Canteen just makes me want to visit all the more. If you are in Ottawa and your curiosity is piqued by these developments, please visit Canteen at 238 Dalhousie and see these works in real technicolor vitality. They are there whilst I whittle time away here.

Eaglekin arrives!

Eaglekin, the band I play drums in with fellow program Gabe Blair has just released their first self titled album. This one is sure to please a several few within the Plebelands. I did the artwork for this thunder clap and Gabe performed the layout and design. For anyone who actually checks this website, you might recognize the cover as the piece "Panthervision", which is of course part of my Wildlife Analysis series. If you are so inclined, please visit the Unsound Records website and procure one of this fine sonic transmissions at a fair price. The sound quality is impeccable and could help in dealing with the ongoing economic strain that is plaguing our vast wastelands. Hello and become one. Welcome all users and programs. 

Late days into limbo fade

Not a whole lot to report. These ephemeral days seem to be moving into one another without much separation and distance. The echelons are stacked and repeated, the order is sequenced, we are not ourselves anymore.  I have been busy busy busy. My days unraveling end on end, no breaks in the middle. Little sleep lots of work; eat, sleep, work and try to stay on top of things.

The other night I stayed up extra late to test my theories and put the finishing touches on this piece below titled "Osprey". I wish I had a show coming up to exhibit this and other newer recent works, but alas, the powers that be are against me once again. I sally forth, however.

The here and now

I've been busy with a few life things lately, but have managed to make some new pieces in between falling and sleeping, sleeping and waking. Below is "Owlseys" a new one that I am quite fond of.
