Visiting the Past Present Tense
Jul. 10 2009
From the late '80s to the early '90s my family and I would take week long summer vacations in Yosemite National Park. Though this piece below, "Lake Effect", is certainly not Yosemite, it was created in summer as an homage to all national park visitors. I miss those days of youthful abandon and river adventures. Please enjoy these natural wonders and step lightly so that future generations may enjoy them as well.
Sunswept and Stark

The green that once was slowly dissolves into earthy light browns and neutral hues. Here we have "Forest Relics", a new piece dedicated to the change in season.

Never blink twice while riding through the woods. You will miss such things.
Snowfield Study

Within the first few moments of the 2009 summer solstice. Remnants of a time once spent.
SYNERGIZE
Jun. 14 2009
Dredged up from the basement of my workplace, I found this strange motivational poster that featured a white spruce tree field with the word "SYNERGIZE" boldly emblazoned across the bottom. My guess was that one of the offices had vacated its space and dumped all of its supplies in the basement. My first thought was to ignore this odd treasure, but then the more I looked at it the more I saw appropriation possibilities. Here it is now, freshly re-worked and re-named "Reverb Woods". May the synergistic properties lay in wait and wonder.
Let the pathos not take hold

"Incremental Indifference in a Still Place"
The Early Days of a Hot Source Approaching
May. 31 2009
Summer encroaching and materializing along these Western skies. The days are indeed longer and the shadows cast distorted shapes at the 8:00 pm mark. I was out in this for several days wondering and rolling (atop a wooden plank). Behind old brush pine and within overgrown vacant lots there lies the forgotten places; little patches of quiet solitude where perhaps the wind wisps and carries the detritus of the day along to other lost spaces. Here in this I exist and made this piece below titled "Nature's Editing".
ETA LA Art Show
May. 19 2009
A while back some friendly folks contacted me from the ETA LA (Enormous Tiny Art Los Angeles) and requested that I send them some pieces under 10" x 10". I happily did so and now they will be showcased along with several other talented artist's work from around the nation. ETA have been curating shows for several years on the East coast and this June will be their first West coast endeavor. I am excited to be a part of it and you can read all about it right here.
Thursday Last Thursday: Alberta Street Arts
May. 02 2009
Ventured into the realm of street art selling for the first time last Thursday at the monthly Alberta Arts Streetwalk. It was quite an experience to be out in the plebelands mingling with the myriad passing sentient bodies. So many people walked by in instant flashes it became difficult to tell if they were merely looking or looking through. I know from past experience that the "looking through" effect overtakes me when presented with so many visual distractions. Alberta St. last Thursday is like this. However, several kind folks stopped to say hello and show genuine interest in the selected works hanging there on the fence. Thank you to all my friends who stopped by to help and support. I would do this again, yes.
