2009 has arrived and with it winds of change and tidal currents of new ideas. For the most part, let us all hope this year brings happiness and good health to all sentient beings. Good fortune in the monetary context is something else entirely -- this year's gonna be tough so buckle down and try to have a good time nonetheless. In my best effort I have listed many new pieces on Etsy. Pretty much everything on there is priced to go, priced to sell, priced to be placed in your kind hands. Hawkrise and Soar at Fontanelle gallery

There is snow and wind drift today amongst the Northwestern landscape. Winter has arrived at last. The last vestiges of warmth and sun quickly retreat and make their way to distant corners of the world. I have a few new pieces up at Fontanelle gallery on SW 3rd & Pine in downtown Portland, OR. Fontanelle is a great new space that just opened its doors about 4 months ago. Please stop by if you are in the area and take a peek if the patience is there -- it is hard to come by these days, yes. Living Standards

There was once a quiet neighborhood in a non-descript suburb of Los Angeles. Within these confines people existed primarily to feed and reproduce.  The place was a white washed nightmare, so bland and vanilla that the most exciting and controversial thing to happen was a dog pooing in a neighbor's yard. This all changed one random day when the beams came. These unexplained patterns emerged all over the neighorhood and people started to take notice of one another, they started to communicate and smile, they became human again. Living Standards was reinstated and life resumed once again at a glacial pace.

New series -- Wildlife Analysis

These days the animals have taken over and the animals are running rampant. The zoo is a prison and cannot contain these creatures. A new series has been created called Wildlife Analysis. There is a palpable aura surrounding these sentient creatures. Unseen by most and never fully understood, the pieces in this series attempt to showcase the magic and radiance surrounding these animals. Below is "Lupine shine" the newest in this series. Hmmm...

All the cities I have lived in

Feels like I have inhabited many cities within the past 5 years; Oakland, San Francisco, NYC, Portland...what's next? Below is a new piece titled "City winds". Above every cityscape the wind still howls, comes in colors too -- Some brilliant, some dull. The breeze cuts through commercialized air as if nothing was there in the first place. Go breathe it someday.

Quick sporadic leaps evade vehicle at night

This piece below titled "Jackrabbit Suddenly" was made just a few days ago. When I lived in the desert as a young fool, I frequently drove down a dusty old road that lead to my house. While on this road late at night there would literally be dozens of jackrabbits sprinting and dashing all over the place. Often times I would drive and sorta "chase" these spastic little bunnies. My intent was never ever to run them over, just kind of make them move in and out of my headlight field. They were fast, EXTREMELY fast, and agile too -- if you were to hit one, well, I guess you were a pretty agile driver yourself, 'cause these things were too smart to be hit. When I finally arrived home there would be like 5 more jackrabbits just sitting around on the lawn staring at me. They were eerie in this state, and I would hustle out of my car and run to the front door. Lord knows what they had in mind, or what they did out there in the front yard long after I was asleep. To my old friends, the jackrabbits; good jumping to be had by all.

Some things never change, I suppose. Days spent in and out of activity and passive motivation/non activity. A few new pieces have been made during this limbo period. I guess it seems everyone has been in it for themselves lately, I'm guilty of this as well.  Quite proud of this one piece below entitled "Thrives in sun or light shade" I came across an old butcher block that had an interesting pattern on it. I found an image of spruce needles at the insane "bins" (Goodwill outlet) here in Portland. I liked the two together so they met, and some 7-11 type colors joined in for fucks sake. You guys notice how all the cool kids these days are starting to wear jeans so tight they resemble, er, tights? Hahaha. Yeah, I'm not going to wear tights, leggings, etc...Whatever. 

Amnesia art show

New works are now up at Amnesia brewery located at 832 N. Beech St.  Amnesia brews some of the best beers in town. Their unfiltered Desolation IPA is murky and tasty.  I drank one whilst hanging pieces during a rare sunny afternoon here in Portland.  Coincidentally, the urban materials re-use center is directly across the street, and a piece hanging at Amnesia entitled Owlsight II is comprised of 50% materials gleaned from the center. Awesome. Take a peak and have a beer.
