Far Off Places

Apr. 23 2013

The landscape is changing
The landscape is crying
Thousands of acres of forest are dying
Carbon copies from the hills above the forest line
Acid streams are flowing ill across the countryside

'Cause I don't care if you're going nowhere
Just take good care of the world
I don't care if you're going nowhere
Just take good care of the world

Of course these are lyrics from the song Landscape is Changing, featured on Depeche Mode's 1983 album Construction Time Again. This piece below is that song's namesake, and is created out of necessity, necessary to the progress and growth of a place I visited and enjoyed in my youth -- the mighty Yosemite Valley. I'd like to think Ansel Adams viewed the monolith El Capitan through a stained glass filtered monoscope of some sort. Trip and tripped therefore. I went here in the '80s, we left behind ourselves, this place provided memories. Now so far away I sit and recall, accessing the old banks of my mind. I wore pink and red, and I rode a colorful skateboard along bumpy forest paths. This piece heralds a specific time period in Yosemite Valley, one that I alone recall vividly.

Next Happening: Wider Than a Postcard (May 2013, PDX)

Mar. 04 2013

Long lapses in between posts, unfortunately, appears to be my MO lately. However, there is a bit of lightsource at the end of a never ending, long, twisting, spiraling, and dark winter tunnel. This upcoming May I am happy to be a small part of a very large show in my dear old place of existenz, Portland, OR.

The show is called "Wider than a postcard" and I am contributing three 4" x 6" postcards of original tape art. The show will be set up by combining all 100+ contributing artists' postcards into a giant, grid-like pattern on one wall. I envision it to appear like a strange, incongruous mosaic with no real rhyme or reason.

These three works below will be in there, somewhere. If you happen to find yourself in those soggy, spring environs that only Portland can provide, please swing by Breeze Block gallery and check this shit out. Lemme know how it looks, as I will not be in attendance, but rather dealing with trying to survive in the Midwest. Good times to be had, of course.

Flushed From a Tidal Retreat

Jan. 30 2013

Upon arrival here in Doughboyzville, OH, I discovered that this new piece was laying in wait, and intact. Collage rip-out of tidal birds retreating, with mixed media adhered to graph paper. More like this one to come in future times interrupted. Stay alert, transfixed, and tuned in. Thanks!

DepARTure Party: Jan 5th, 1-6pm, 1127 SE 89th Ave. You're Invited!!

Dec. 23 2012

Hello! So, anyone out there in Portland looking at this website? Recently I gave out over 200 postcards and a good number of business cards, so I figure my odds of reaching at least one person out there who is interested in my work will actually read this, hopefully.

If you were at the recent Crafty Wonderland a few weeks ago, and mayhaps wanted to buy a piece, but were not able to at the time, you might be interested in attending an open house/going away party at my house on Saturday, January 5th, from 1-6pm We are located at 1127 SE 89th Ave. That's right, my family and I are moving from Portland, almost 3,000 miles away to a small colonial town in Ohio! Crazy times, and busy minds.

At any rate, please consider this posting an official invitation to attend the party. We will have beer, wine, snacks and many un-claimed, new, and original art pieces for sale at super great prices!! For more info, just give me a call at 718-593-7664 for more details, or if you'd like to snag a piece before then.  I can let you know what I have via images & descriptions sent by email.

This piece below will be on hand for viewing/purchasing. "Departure Buck" 2012 found buck image mounted on foamcore with Japanese Washi tape. I hope to see you at the open house party!

Thank you to all who came by my booth to talk and purchase pieces at this past Crafty Wonderland Super Colossal Sale! It was a swell time, and I enjoyed speaking with everyone. Below is a piece that I still have remaining, "Line of Sight" measures 8" x 10" If you missed out on getting an original piece, this might be yer last chance to snag one while I am still in Portland, as my family and I are moving to Ohio in January! Please lemme know if you would like to see this one, or any of the others I still have on hand here in town. Thanks so much again!
